Guatemala Syphilis Experiment

In the 1940s, U.S. researchers in Guatemala paid prostitutes infected with syphilis to have sex with prisoners and mental patients. The goal was to provide the victims with penicillin after and see if it was effective in treating the disease. At least 83 people died as a result.
