MCH neurons (Melanin-concentrating hormone-producing) in the hypothalamus are the reason why we forget our dreams. Research has shown that genetic ablation of MCH neurons increased memory performance in mice and conversely, pharmacogenetic activation of MCH neurons impaired memory.
