Jiang Qing's Trial & Death

On October 6, 1976, after the death of Mao Zedong, the ‘Gang of four,’ a political faction of Communist party officials (headed by Mao Zedong’s last wife), who had total control over media and played a crucial role in the Cultural Revolution, were arrested. Jiang Qing, Mao Zedong’s widow was tried and sentenced to death. Though her sentence was commuted to a life sentence, she eventually committed suicide.
