The Greeks viewed trousers as ridiculous and mocked Persian trousers by calling them ‘sacks.’ The Romans viewed trousers as barbarian clothing but had to adopt them from the Celts as their empire expanded. Romans further adopted trousers through contact with the Near East and Teutons.
