The 1930s starlet Hedy Lamarr invented a technology to stop Nazis from jamming Navy torpedoes, but the idea was rejected until 1962 and only implemented during the Cold War. Her frequency hopping technology has now become the basis for modern Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
