Battle of Manners Street

Battle of Manners Street

The “Battle of Manners Street” was a 1,000-man riot in Wellington, New Zealand during World War 2 that started when Southern U.S. soldiers objected to the Maori soldiers being allowed to use the same club as them. New Zealanders didn't take kindly to that attitude. The full brawl lasted a couple hours, some fisticuffs going on even longer.
