Cat Telephone

In 1929, Princeton researchers opened a cat’s skull and connected its auditory nerve to a telephone. When one researcher spoke in the cat’s ear, the other could hear it through the receiver 50 feet away. The experiment ultimately became the basis for cochlear implants.
