Louis Réard

The bikini was invented in 1946 by a Frenchman named Louis Réard. At that time, USA was conducting Atomic Bomb tests in the Bikini Atoll, and so Louis Réard named his two-piece swimsuit the “Bikini” as it was what he referred to as an “Anatomic Bomb.”
