Timon and Pumbaa

The characters of Timon and Pumbaa were put in the movie The Lion King only because Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella auditioned so well together. They had originally auditioned for the voice role of hyenas but they turned out to be so funny that Timon and Pumbaa were created especially for them.
