Charles Bonnet syndrome

Charles Bonnet syndrome

Charles Bonnet syndrome causes vivid hallucinations, but not due to mental illness. As many as one-third of the people who lose their vision can suffer vivid and cartoonish hallucinations. The brain fills in with what it has seen before as the eyes deteriorate. People rarely report them because they're afraid they are losing their mind.
