  1. Cheddar cheese should be light yellow in colour, not orange. It is occasionally dyed orange, but generally, it should be pale, buttery yellow. I’ve been to the creamery where it is made, in Cheddar, Somerset, and it is definitely not orange. Double Gloucestet is orange, Red Leicester is orange. Appleby’s Cheshire is very pale orange. Not Cheddar.
